• Author and sponsor of the Safe Schools Improvement Act, which would prohibit in K-12 schools bullying and harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

• Cosponsor of the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would expand federal civil rights statutes to include protection in schools against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

• Cosponsor of the Equality Act, which would amend federal civil rights laws to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in education, employment, housing, credit, and Federal jury service.

• Cosponsor of the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act, a bill to ban the use of conversion therapy.
